Creative block blank screen

We’ve all been there, whether it’s working for a client as a freelancer or working on an in-house team. But getting past your creative block isn’t impossible. Just imagine for a second you get a project, you get the deadline but your brain is drawing a blank. You load up Photoshop but it’s no use you can’t come up with anything worthwhile. This happened to me on a regular basis so I did some research and came up with few things that you can try.

I landed over on Creative Block and they had a very handy list of things you can try, specifically 20 ways to overcome creative block. I few of these worked for me in the past so I wanted to spread the wealth.

  1. Tapping into your subconscious – This is probably my number one go to, whenever I hit a block if I manage to stay focused on the problem up until I go sleep I will usually dream up a few awesome solutions.
  2. Sketch it out – It’s something that most of us learn in design school but very few of us still practice. Turn the computer off grab a pen and a pad and just go crazy, whatever comes to your head just get it out. Even when you’re not working on a project its always a good idea to keep this practice going.
  3. Go exploring – Take your mind off the project altogether and just go exploring, smell the flowers listen to the birds. This helps to reset your brain and sometimes you may land that eureka moment in the least expected place.

There are a few more great tips in that article that may be worth checking out. Happy designing everyone!
